Although you can spend the day at leisure, you have the option of going on a trip to Kandy. Situated gracefully on a plateau enveloped with mountains whose slopes are dressed with rainforests and tea plantations, Kandy is another place which plays its fair part in making Sri Lanka a touristy destination. Glimpses of its ancient history can be witnessed in its monasteries and temples, while its national parks are home to an incredible wildlife.
One of the main attractions of Kandy is The Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, also known as Dalada Maligawa. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, it consists of a golden roof and houses the tooth of the Buddha. Constructed in the 16th century BC, the tooth has been safeguarded for generations and is always kept safely inside a gold casket. After this, head towards Galle, a fortified city which has been honored with the UNESCO World Heritage Tag and is home to several historical structures. One of these splendid structures is the Galle Fort which was founded in the 16th century by the Portuguese before being modified by the Dutch in the 17th century. Another famous place to visit is the Unawatuna Bay, which itself is associated with a major episode in the epic Ramayana and boasts beautiful beaches. After this lovely sightseeing, return to Colombo.
Enjoy a pleasant overnight stay at the hotel.
